'Twas the second day of LinuxForum 2007, and it was truly a blast. First off, I actually managed not to se ANY talks. Well, I saw the first sixteenth of the anti-spam deathmatch, but I left to enjoy some beer with Shawarma while waiting for the others to finish cleaning. Joy to laziness! I wanted to see the Google Summer of Code talk, the OLPC talk and of course the OpenMoko phone being shown. I forgot about the first two and there wasn't anymore room in the rather small auditorium, since everyone wanted to see the Neo1973.

But the Ubuntu booth was a succes. I think we had done a pretty good job getting stuff ready for the day. We had flyers, stickers, CDs and posters. We had made three flyers: One for users, one for businesses and one for people interested in the LoCoTeam.

We also helped some guys with various small problems with their Ubuntu installations. Two guys, one named Louis and the other Per (I-had-forgotten-his-name-but-then-he-commented-and-informed-me) hung around the booth almost all day. Even though Louis ran a bastardized version of Linux Mint and kept on telling people about the horrors of Kubuntu, it was very nice to have some help talking to people.

All in all, it was a very fun conference, we handed out about 170 Ubuntu Edgy CDs, 20 Kubuntu Edgy CDs, 25 Kubuntu Dapper CDs, 18 Edubuntu CDs, a lot of stickers and about 150 flyers. We also talked to a lot of people, quite a lot of them interested in trying out ubuntu. I had a talk with an elderly optician (?? - guy who makes glasses), who was very excited about spreading the word about Ubuntu to everyone.

Well, at the end of LinuxForum, the main exhibition area was cleared, and we all went for some beer in the Cafeteria. So did everyone else, and the queue was very long indeed - I had to use four frames to photograph it!

Talking about beer and nice people in general, Shiyee introduced us to the lovely Leslie Hawthorn who runs a little thing called Summer of Code at a company called "Google" - what a stupid name, if you ask me. But anyways, she is the coolest person ever and have the coolest job ever! By her own description, her jobs consists of traveling the world and buying hackers beer. Thumbs up!. She did a pretty good job at this, and it was the most fun I ever had being manipulated by a major corporation. Leslie, I love you, and not just because of the free beer :-)
